Veteran's Day

Remembering those who have served our country today.  Thank you for your courage and love, and for defending our rights and freedom!  The picture below is by Arnold Friberg, and is a favorite of mine.  Although I have seen it many times, it has greater meaning to me now.  We think of George Washington as a great military general and leader- intelligent, courageous, and strong.  Yet here we see a soldier- a man- on bended knee, in humble prayer, perhaps asking for those very things from God.  As I see this painting, I can only imagine his plea: "Dear Father, please...help me this day....".
Prayer at Valley Forge
Last week. I had the opportunity to go to the Arnold Friberg Exhibition.  I had no idea what a prolific painter he was!  My companion and I were there for more than two hours, and we were the last ones to leave..  Actually, the museum had already closed, but we were so enthralled with the paintings, that they kept the place open half an hour later that usual.  We were a little embarrassed, but also excited to have been escorted out by Friberg's daughter-in-law and grandson!  They were very kind to invite us back and stay as long as we liked the next time, that is until 9 PM!  :D

Have a Happy Veteran's Day!
Have you thanked a Veteran today?
