What is the name of my mission?
I have been called to serve as a Records Preservation Missionary in the Family and Church History Headquarters Mission or FCHHM for short.
Do I serve on Temple Square or the Family History Library?
Nope. Although I walk through the beautiful gardens of Temple Square daily, it is not where I serve. Occasionally I will visit the Family History Library to work on my personal family history.
Where is your Zone?
My mission zone is in the Church Office Building or more commonly known as the COB. It is part of the Records Division within the Family History Department. It is related to Records Access Services, with responsibilities to take digital images of records. These images are later made available on FamilySearch.org.
Do I knock on doors?
No, this is not a proselyting mission. It is more about providing support and helpful service at Church Headquarters.
What do I do?*
This is the jumbo question! My assignment is to assist in the development of training programs for people who will be capturing digital images on behalf of FamilySearch.org. So far, we have focused on improving the training process for senior missionary who are called to serve as Records Preservation Missionaries (RPM). As I have done in the past, I strive to make learning as simple and fun as possible. It takes a lot to make that happen, and it sounds easier than it looks. I am applying all of my knowledge, skills, and experience in Instructional Design, Personal Development, and Marketing for the purpose of blessing the lives of others.
When I "catch the vision" of this assignment, and the meaningfulness of serving a mission, I clearly see God's hand in all of these things. He is teaching me how to communicate with compassion, and patiently transfer information and knowledge to others. All the while, He is helping me learn, understand, change, and improve myself, always in a loving manner. The School of Hard Knocks, this is not! This is God's Spiritual University, school is in session, and it is a time to search for knowledge and wisdom. I am most grateful for this opportunity to develop my talents and study the art and science of Learning and Teaching. All that I learn, I enthusiastically put into practice, for the betterment of the training, and benefit of future RPM's.
Did I request this assignment?
No. I had no idea this assignment even existed! It was truly a divine calling, and this is THE perfect mission for me! I could not have asked for a better assignment or mission
Do I have a companion?
This question gets asked a lot! While I do not have a companion, I try not to roam the streets alone.
How long is my mission?
18 months- just like the 19 year old sisters! ;D
